Aeroseal, our licensed partner, developed another sealing technology for ducts, which resulted in a renaming of their products and technologies.

AeroBarrier is now called Aeroseal Envelope –  a technology that guarantees improved building envelope sealing that meets BC’s building codes.

Aeroseal Duct is the newest technology and service. The service provides guaranteed sealing for ducts and HVAC systems.

Aeroseal Duct is specific to HVAC systems and ensures that conditioned air stays within the ducts.

Aeroseal Envelope addresses the entire building’s airtightness, preventing uncontrolled air leakage and improving energy performance for the entire structure.

Both solutions help enhance energy efficiency but are tailored to different components of a building’s infrastructure.

Both Aeroseal Duct Sealant (DuctSeal LT) and Aeroseal Envelope Sealant (AeroBarrier X1) use water-based acrylic polymers as the main component. These sealants are designed to be non-toxic and safe for indoor use. Here’s a breakdown of the key properties:

Aeroseal Duct Sealant:

  • Low in VOCs (volatile organic compounds), emitting less than 0.5 mg/m³.
  • Certified safe by independent toxicologists.
  • Does not produce harmful chemicals or significant odours during application.

Aeroseal Envelope Sealant:

  • Water-based and GreenGuard Gold certified, meeting strict environmental and safety standards.
  • Extremely low VOC content (12 g/L), much lower than typical low-VOC paints.
  • Produces no off-gassing and is safe for any type of building.

Both sealants are stable, inert once cured, and specifically engineered to target leaks without affecting indoor air quality or leaving harmful residues.

The Aeroseal Envelope system uses a standard blower door to measure envelope leakage during the process. The blower door is calibrated to meet ASTM Standard E779, E1554, CGSB-149.10-M86, EN 13829, ATTMA Technical Standard 1, NFPA 2001, RESNET and USACE.

Aeroseal Duct integrates a manometer and our software intuitively tracks duct leakage in real time. Upon completion of the seal, a final duct efficiency test is conducted at 25 pascals, as required by code, and a certified copy is made available for your records and to provide all necessary parties.
